Rosehip Testing Application

Rosehip Testing Application

Thank you for checking out this testing call for the Rosehip Sweater! As you may know, Rosehip was my very first sweater design. I’ve learned a lot about designing and pattern writing since I first released the pattern. I’ve also grown more confident in my ability to grade garments to fit a wider size range. Because of this, I really wanted to do a full revamp of the Rosehip pattern! I saw so many little things that could be improved design-wise… Not to mention that fact that I wanted to make the pattern available for sizes XS – 5XL (like all of my later designs). I decided to get to work, and here we are! Please fill out the form below if you’d like to test the Rosehip sweater. The form can be found after all of the info – you’ll have to scroll all the way down to find it.

Please note: all photos in this testing call are from the previous version of the Rosehip Sweater. The updated version will look slightly different – the most noticeable difference being a higher, folded neckline. I’m working on a new sample as we speak!

Rosehip is a comfy and stylish sweater, which is bound to become a staple in your wardrobe! The sweater is worked up in simple stockinette stitch, spiced up with the coolest bobbles. It features dramatic balloon sleeves and a folded neckband. The bobbles and the balloon sleeves create a unique look which can be paired with many different outfits. This is quite an easy knit – suitable for advanced beginners. Rosehip is designed with Fonty Mongolia 3 – a lovely sport weight merino/baby yak blend which is available in a bunch of stunning colors. Rosehip is worked in the round from the bottom up, then divided at the armholes to work front and back separately. The sleeves are worked in the round by picking up stitches around the armhole. Rosehip is designed to have some positive ease around the bust (approx. 0 – 10 cm / 0 – 4 inches).

SIZES

XS, (S, M, L) [XL, 2XL, 3XL] (4XL, 5XL)

GARMENT MEASUREMENTS

Choosing the right size is of utmost importance. Take your body measurements and choose the size that corresponds with them. The recommended ease for this design is approx. 0-10 cm (0-4 inches) of positive ease. The measurements below are the finished garment measurements, not your own.

Chest:

84, (93, 102, 112) [121, 130, 140] (149, 158) cm / 33, (36½, 40, 44) [47½, 51, 55] (58½, 62) inches

Armhole depth:

18½, (18½, 23¼, 23¼) [23¼, 28, 28] (28, 28) cm / 7¼, (7¼, 9, 9) [9, 11, 11] (11, 11) inches

MATERIALS

Needles

4.5 mm circular needle (US size 7, UK size 7) or other needle size that matches gauge. I recommend using an 80 cm or 100 cm circular needle for the body, depending on the size you’re knitting. The sleeves can be worked on a 40 cm circular needle, but DPNs or the magic loop method may be easier for the smaller sizes.

4 mm 60 cm circular needle (US size 6, UK size 8) for the neck ribbing, and 4 mm DPNs or circular needle for the sleeve ribbing. You can use DPNs or the magic loop method with a longer circular needle

Yarn

Sport weight yarn, approx. 1300, (1400, 1550, 1650) [1800, 1950, 2000] (2100, 2200) meters / 1420 (1530, 1695, 1805) [1968, 2132, 2187] (2296, 2405) yards.

I used Mongolia 3 (color 014) from Fonty for my sample. Fonty Mongolia 3 is a beautiful and soft sport weight yarn (85% merino, 15% baby yak) that comes in 50 g balls (à 150 meters / 164 yards). You can check Fonty’s store locator through this link to see if Fonty’s yarn is available in a local yarn shop near you. You can also use any other yarn that matches gauge.

Other tools

Darning needle, scissors, stitch markers, scrap yarn OR extra cable.

GAUGE

21,5 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm; on 4,5 mm needles in stockinette stitch.
