If you’ve been here for a while, you might know my love for Son de Flor. They’re an ethical and sustainable fashion brand from Lithuania with a collection of simple yet stunning 100% linen garments. Last year I got to try out their Wrap Dress in Red Poppy. I wrote a blog post with my thoughts about this dress, and included a free pattern for a little matching accessory: the Tilly Scarf.
This time I had the chance to try out their Classic Skirt in Brown Tartan – a design that had been calling my name for ages. I hit up my sister Sasja and asked her if we could snap a few photos of the skirt (for those of you who don’t know: Sasja is a gifted photographer who takes the dreamiest photos, you can check her work here).

This was my second Son de Flor garment, so I already knew the quality of their linen is top notch – and this skirt definitely did not disappoint. Son de Flor’s Classic Skirt has a recognizable A-line shape and a stretchy waistband. This full circle skirt features an invisible color-aligned zipper, a waist button, two large hidden side seam pockets (!!) and that classic white Son de Flor folding of white linen on the inner edge of the skirt.
Like all of Son de Flor’s garments, their Classic Skirt is available in a various beautiful colors. At this moment, there are three tartan options, two floral fabrics, and six solid colors available (note: the available colors might differ from season to season). I went for Brown Tartan, although Oak Tartan is another favorite of mine.

The construction of this skirt seems very sturdy and the quality of the linen is very high. Before my experience with Son de Flor, I saw linen as more of a summer-fabric. However, their heavyweight linen garments are surprisingly warm. With tights and a sweater I can comfortably wear this skirt during the colder months!Ā
The linen is both sturdy and flowy – and extremely twirl-friendly š This wouldn’t be a Son de Flor review without a few twirl pics, so here ya go:

The elastic waistband of this skirt is very forgiving, so I would recommend sizing down if you’re between sizes. I’m 1.78m (5’10”) tall, and I love the length of this skirt on me.
When it comes to different outfits, the possibilities with this skirt are endless. It can be dressed up or down, depending on the vibe you want to go for. I paired it with a navy blue turtleneck in these photos, but it would also look great when paired with one of Son de Flor’s linen shirts (I really want to get their Clementine shirt to wear with it), a white shirt that’s already in your wardrobe, a black pullover, a jeans jacket, or a chocolate brown sweater. In fact, I am thinking of knitting the latter to wear with this skirt. If you have any other knitwear suggestions for a matching sweater, I’m all ears š
Many thanks to Son de Flor for sending this skirt my way to try it out! If youāre interested in getting one of the stunning Son de Flor garments for yourself, you can shop throughĀ this link.
